Judge Orders Google To Turn Over Gmail Account To Feds

For all of those worried about the Department of Justice forcing Google to turn over search data, it seems there’s another case that may be even more interesting. A judge has ordered Google to comply with a subpoena to turn over someone’s complete Gmail account records, including any deleted messages they still have on a server. This isn’t surprising. The guy was charged with a crime by the FTC and eventually settled, but the FTC is trying to track down where he hid his assets. It’s pretty standard for them to subpoena anyone who might have such info — in this case Google, since the guy used Gmail. The guy tossed up some reasons why Google shouldn’t turn over his Gmail account (revealing confidential info and attorney-client privileged communications, along with the idea that this was unfair since he’d have to pay his attorneys to sift through all the data as well, and that would cost too much). However, in the end, the judge didn’t find any of his reasons very convincing. Not a huge surprise, but a reminder for those of you using your Gmail for criminal activity.

Saturday in the office
February 4, 2006 at 10:20 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI ordered some new DELL computers for our organozation a few days ago. They got here this week. Even though Saturday and Sunday are my days off, I have decided to go back to my office this Saturday to set up the new systems, hook them up to our network and configure them so that I put them into production starting next Monday.
My alarm clok started screaming at 8am so I jumped out of my bed, took a quick shower and grab my bag and my laptop. I was gone! After about 25mn ride on the red line, I got to our office on 18th street downtown DC. Nobody was around. Of course, it’s the weekend so naturally people stay home. My colleague Jennifer told me on Friday that she would come to do some work. Two hours after I started working, she showed up. she stayed 2 hours and left. I was there until 7:45pm before I caught the metro to come back home.
The day was productive though and I listened to a lot of Christian music. I have just discover a great website listening online radios all around the world. One can listen to all sorts of music. I enjoyed it at workd and I am still enjoying it right now, while typing these entries.
I was able to configure two of the new XPS 200 DELL computers and I also configured the two Dell Inspiron 9300 laptops. Those four computers are ready to be used. I have a bunch of other computer to take care of though.
I will need to use another of my weekend to finish the work.
After I was done working, I wanted to go watched the new movie KAM suggested me this morning when we chatted over the phone. It’s titled ” Something new” and it’s a new movie that came out this Friday, feb 3, 2006. I planned on going but decided to make it another day because I was feeling really tired and I was sure I would be spending my time sleeping during the movie. It wasn’t work going so, I went home.
SPAMfighter rocks !
February 3, 2006 at 10:45 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
As everybody already knows, SPAM has become one of the biggest headache for electronic mail. I don’t know about you but everyday, my mailbox is full of “Cialis”, “Viagra”, “Organ Enhancement”,…emails. It’s just insane. no matter how strong is your filter, those loony spammers will get you. They spam not email addresses but entire domain name. I have tried so many other tricks to reduce the amount of junk I receive everybody but most of them didn’t convince me. A few days ago, I have started using SPAMfighter, a free tool that removes almost all spam from my email account. It’s working pretty good so far. I think I like it and I am also pilot testing it on Emily’s mailbox. It seems to be working like a charm for now.
It’s very easy to install and use SPAMfighter, and it works with Outlook and Outlook Express.
One of the nice features is that you can report a spam mail with one click, and have the good feeling of removing it from all other SPAMfighter users. The more people who use SPAMfighter, the less spam everybody gets. By now, more than 95 % is filtered.
Well, I think I will go with SPAMfighter. Some more testings and if I am convinced, I will recommend it on our entire systems.
If you want to try it for free, get free SPAMfighter here:

Bridges Int’l 2004: Day 3
December 29, 2004 at 4:15 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentBridges Int’l 2004 is going great. It’s awesome to to meet new brothers and sisters and fellowship with them. The last couple of days I have spent here at the Days Hotel in Dulles, VA are memorable ones. It’s really amazing to get to meet friends from the Muslim world who are christians. Two days in here and I have become friends with brothers and sisters from Palestine ( Soha, Basil, Ramy, Elijah), Iran ( Farshid, Peyman, Peyjman, Ali,Mary, …), Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen( Sanad), Malaysia (Seong), Indonesia ( Hani), USA ( JMac, Patty, Nicole & Melinda( Miami University of Oxford, Mary,), Japan ( Satomi “Beatiful Home Town” fromWisconsin),…. The workshops are very enriching. They offer us great moments to share our experience as a follower of Jesus and to witness the unlimited and unconditional love of God. Jerry ( J.Mac) is a great instructor andwe have learned enormously with him during the last couple of days.
In the evening, after dinner, we listen to Mounir Farragal, a famous Egyptian writer, movie maker, and evangelist.
Besides the workshops and the program of the conference, my new friends are awesome and we really connected to each other. It looks like we have known each other for years. It’s beautiful and I will miss it when the gathering finishes on Friday 31th of December 2004.
Today, after the workshops, we had lunch and left at 1:30pm to visit the National Aeronautics and Space Musuem. I got to see the space shuttles, the Concord and many other inventitions that have revolutioned the world of aeronautics and aerospace. Then, we came back to Days Hotel and went straight to play soccer just behind the hotel. It was a nice game even though me and my team lost against Mary’s crew. Mary is a good soccer player. She scored a few goals against us. Peyjman is also a good player. Overall, everybody did well and we had fun. It was a good idea for me to put my soccer ball and my boots in my car.
Just after the game we came back to the Hotel and I talked to Nicole & Melinda from Miami University. The two girls are very friendly and I have had a good talk with them. When they left to go to a Church for an outreach session, seong ( my new friend from Malaysia) and I spent some minutes chatting with Dan and his daughter. Dan is married toa Japanese girl and they have a beautiful girl, Helena Me-i.
We went for dinner at 6:20pm. After the dinner was over, we have had the second talk given by “Uncle” Mounir Farragal. As I was a little knocked out after the soccer game, I was kinda sleepy during the talk but I remember the substance of it. It was about the next return of Jesus and how it was going to look like and where, we,as christians will fit in. The talk lasted 1h30mn. It ended at 9pm. Then, we have had the coffee house. I joined Mary, Peggy, and Elijah and another giril to listen to Elijah’s testimony about how hebecame Christian. It was a very moving testimony and Peggy was really weeping at the end. Elijah came from far away and he has really experienced God’ love, God’s mercy, God salvation in his life. It was really a strong testimony of the fact our God is an awesome and living one who reigns on us.
After that, a group of friends gathered the Reagan Room to listen to worship songs. I joined them. I left 30mn later to pick something in my car. When I was coming back to the Hotel, I ran into Satomi( satomi_akagi@hotmail.com) , a Japanese sister in Christ from Wisconsin. I met Satomi the night before in the Hall and she was very nice and very easy-going. So, Satomi and I sat down and talked for 30-45mn. It was good. I told her that I was a ” Kokujin Samurai” and she really laughed about that. I had a good conversation with Satomi and we exchanged our contact info and we’ll try to stay in touch after the conference. Satomi has become Chrsitian 2 years ago after she got to the United States. Right now, she is the only one in her family to become Christian. It is certainly a tough situation for her but I am sure God is giving Satomi the courage and the determination to stay the course and remain on the paty she has picked. I will keep you and your family in my daily prayers.
After Satomi, I joined my friends and we hangoutfor a few hours. We have just left and here I am sitting, typing in my blog.
Bridges International 2004, Washington, DC
December 28, 2004 at 2:16 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentThis December 27, 2004, I drove to Washington,DC to attend a conference the Bridges International is holding. It was 7:45am when I pulled my car from my driveway this morning. Direction, Wahsington, Dc to attend a conference organized by Campus Crusade. The weather was really bad this morning. We got a lot of snow last night and the temperature was way below 32F. I spent almost 20mn sholving theh snow and warming my car. After I left my place, I stopped by Chrispy Creme on jefferson rd to pick Dev. Shenoy and join Carol and Me Young, two other friends from BCC who were heading to DC in another car. We departed around 8:30am from Rochester, NY. Because of the heavy snow, it was pretty tough to drive, especially around Rochester, NY. My windshiled was not working properly because of the ice. I could barely see through. After a few miles, I pulled on the side and put some windshield water and remove some ice from the windshield. The visibility became clear after that.
A few miles from Rochester, NY, the roads were ok. No snow, no rain, no nothing. It was sunny even though it didn’t do much to change the freezing temperature. Driving was fun though. I put the heat to the top to warm up the inside of the car. Dev was a very helpful in chatting with me when I was driving. We talked mostly about Computer Engineering, Intel, AMD Athlon, IBM processors and their performance comparisons. We also discussed about our musical tastes. Dev likes music that has no voice on it. I mean, he like instrumental music, and trans. On the contrary, i like everything, including country music. Some of my friends find it weird for me, a guy from Chad, to enjoy country and go almost everyday to a country showcase to enjoy the music and see people dance.
Dev also shared some of his souvenirs from Australia about Sharks, gelly fishes, snakes, spiders with me. It was a fun talk and I liked it. I had never seen Dev talk that much before. So, I listened carefully.
Around noon, we stop by a subway in williamsport, PA to have some food and get gas. Then, we continued our trip. The weather was great ahead. No signs of rain, or snow, coming up. After 8h or driving, we got to the Days hotel located at 2200 centreville rd, Herndon, VA 20170. we went through the registration process for the conference and we started meeting and chatting with new people from all over the world who came. After the introductory step which allowed everybody to introduce themselves, we had dinner and start getting to know each other. I have met Soha, a nice and young Palestinian girl who came with her brother, a nice guy himself. Soha and I spent a fair amount of time talking about Chad, Palestine, her school ( pensacola christian college), the fact we misss pur homes,…It was a great talk with Soha and I really enjoyed it. She showed me the website of her university and I showed her my websites. Soha is the first Palestinian girl and Christian that i have met in my life. The first Palestinian I have met was Rima Kapitan from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. She was the President of the Student Justice for Palestine. Rima was a Muslim and all her other friends I got to meet were Muslims. This Bridges conference has just given me the chance to meet other Palestinians, and Christians. Is that awesome? Besides Soha and her brother, I met Elijah who is from Bethleem. he is the first person from Bethleem I have met. We sat down on a couch and talked for a while. t was nice. I also got to befriended many Iranians. One of them( farshid) has even offered to offer gas so that we go visit places. I agreed and we will talk about that this Tuesday night.
There are also a few Morrocan borthers and sisters here and i spoke French with them. It was nice.
Ok, the serious things related to the conference start this morning. I gotta go get some rest before waking up. Will continue inch’allah next time when i got more energy.
Xmas dinner with the Balajthy
December 25, 2004 at 10:40 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentToday, the Balajthy have invited me to join their family for the Xmas dinner. The Balajthy are a wonderful family from my church at Browcroft. Janet and Ernie are also our instructors in our Sunday school. They are very supportive and up lifting people.
They extended an invitation to me for Xmas. As my friend Wu came from Athens, OH to stay with me, I asked the Balajthys if it was ok to bring Wu along with me. Without hesitation they say yes.
Around 2pm, Wu and I drove to the Balajthy house. Ernie and Janet and their kids David and Sara were there waiting for us. We started out by playing society game and chatting, waiting for dinner to be ready. Janet and Ernie were working hard on it in the kitchen.
The dinner got served at 5pm and it was so delicious. We had steak, mushed potatoe, bread and veggie. It was a great meal.
After dinner, we went back to the living-room and kept playing games.
Wu and I left around 7pm to come back to my place after we toolk pictures with them.
It was definitely a memorable souvenir. My friend Wu enjoyed it.
On my behalf and on Wu’s behalf, I would like to thank the Balajthy for everything and I ask God to bless for reaching out to me and my friend.
Thanksgiving 2004 with Jill’s family in Geneva, NY
November 26, 2004 at 4:06 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI really didn’t plan to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. As I said, for the past two years, I was being invited by the Letsons to join them in Avon, NY. This year, their family is going to a different place during Thanksgiving so I was planning to stay in my room and celebrate Thanksgiving in my way.
.
However, my dear friend Jill Blackington who goes to BCC ( my church) invited me to join her family. On November 25, Jill stopped by my place at 10AM and picked me up. We went to her sister Jen’s place in Geneva, NY. Their entie family ( extended family included) was coming too. Jill and I were the first persons to get to her sister’s place. I got to meet Jen and her husband Jeremiah. They are really great, easy going, and funny people. The rest of the family came later. Jeremiah’s two sisters ( Rachel and Sara) came with their husbands. Jill’s parents, Roger and Beth were there too. Jeremiah’s parents, Rick and Lois also came. Jill’s grandma was there too. Jill prevented me on our way to Geneva her grandma loves black people a lot and that maybe she would try to hug me or something. I was ok with that. She was cool and there was no problem at all ![]()
Who else was there? Oh, Christian’s parents. Christian is Rachel’s husband. A very good guy who loves debating about politics and international issues. He is a true Democrat and does not really like Bush he calls a dictator
He is also into computer stuffs. We spent a lot of time discussing and exchanging. Jill’s dad is also really into computers. He is a mac guy.
The gathering was so cool. A lot of talking, laughing, eating, drinking ( soft drinks of course ). We also played two funny games.
Traditionally, we had a juicy and yummy Turkey, accompanied with the pumpkin pie. Them we went around the table being grateful to the Lord for all His blessings during the year. I am grateful for everything God has giving this year as blessings. I am grateful fo my friends, for my family, for my friends at BCC, for the lessons I have learned from life this year, for being alive at the moment people are dying all over the world of wars (…in the Darfur region, in South Chad, in Ivory Coast, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine,…. ) of diseases ( AIDS pandemic, SARC,..), of extreme poverty, of hunger, of desperation,….I am grateful for everything single thing. I am grateful for all the support I have gotten from my family, friends here in the U.S, and all over the world. Yes, I have a long list of things to be thankful of. Despite the fact my health is a little instable right now, I am grateful to God because He is the best doctor and He had pulled Job from the hardship he put in through. So, none of the things I am facing has disturbed my Faith and my Hope. They are growing stronger. The Lord is my shepherd. Whom shall I fear?
Anyway, thanks to my dear friend Jill, I had a great Thanksgiving and I am deeply thankful to her for invinting me to discover and meet her lovely family. I had a wonderful time and I will talk about my 2004 Thanksgiving for many years. Thanks a lot Jill! You and your family have brightened my day and may God bless you all!
Thanksgiving 2004
November 24, 2004 at 3:32 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
The custom of an annually celebrated thanksgiving, held after the harvest, continued through the years. During the American Revolution (late 1770’s) a day of national thanksgiving was suggested by the Continental Congress.
In 1817 New York State adopted Thanksgiving Day as an annual custom. By the middle of the 19th century many other states also celebrated a Thanksgiving Day. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln appointed a national day of thanksgiving. Since then each president has issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation, usually designating the fourth Thursday of each November as the holiday. ” That’s pretty clear as background information about Thanksgiving. For more detail, go to http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/thanksgiving/main.html and learn more. Pretty fascinating.
Now, let me talk about my Thanksgiving since I have been living in the United States for almost three years.
I have been blessed to meet the Letsons when I moved to Rochester, New York in August 2002. Thamks to my Indiana University Professor, Vinnie Palozzi who is from Rochester, NY, I met Tim, Linda, and their beautiful daughters Faith, Hope, and Joy ( Have you noticed the names? Really meaningful huh?) at a BBQ thrown at Vinnie’s parents home. We met there after our friendship started. They consider me as part of their family and I feel the same way towards them. They regularly invite me to their place in Avon, NY and I really love it. In 2002 and 2003, they invited me to join them for Thanksgiving and it was great. I had a lot of fun and good time with their family. I have also got to meet with Tim’s parents who are really awesome people.
In the tradition of Thanksgiving, people always have Turkey in the menu. There are also pumkin pie, cake, drinks, games and prayers of course. After eating, everybody takes turn to share with the others what they are thankful tha year. It’s a tradition and every American family that celebrates Thanksgiving goes through it. It’s great to see people travel miles and miles to have family reunions and praise the Lord for His blessings. It’s really a family tradition and I always feel blessed to be part of that experience. Each year, I say thaks to God for all His blessings. I am grateful for coming to the United States to do my Masters’ Of Science through a Fulbright scholarship. I would have never reach the coasts of America if it wasn’t that blesseing through the Fulbright. Each year, I am also grateful to God for keeping me alive. After scaping death three times in my life ( 1984: black September, 2000: beating by soldiers, 2001: beating during a demonstration against the results of the fraudulent Presidential election in Chad), I feel seriously blessed to be alive. Many of my people got slaughtered, arrested, tortured murdered and dumped in the Logone and Chari Rivers. Many of my love ones disappeared and my family will never find their remains. For example I have learned a few months ago that my dad older brother who got nightly kidnapped by the Chadian secretly police (DDS) during black September 1984 was thrown out from a plane when being moved from Moundou to NDjamena by the current ruler of Chad, General Idriss Deby. We will never recover even his bones to give him a decent burial. Never! It hurts me a lot but what else can my family and I do? Not much except fight for a better Chad and Justice to come one day. If Justice doesn’t come duringmy lifetime, I have a dream that it will come for future generations so that they don’t have to liv with the horrors I have seen and been through in my childhood and throughout my life. I will never forget those images and they will stay with me for the rest of my days on earth. I don’t want anybody to experience something like that. Anyway, being alive today is a real blessing and a luck for me and my family and I give thanks to the Lord everytime the opportunityy is given me. So, on each Thanksgiving I have celebrated, I have always praised God.
This year 2004, things have been really tought and rough for me and my family back home. We have had so many losses. July, August,September, October and November have been very tough months for me. Losing people I loved has been really hurtful and I am trying to recover from all that. For the losses back home in Chad, being far from home doesn’t make things easy for me, especially during situations of losses. So, I didn’t really have seriously plans for Thanksgiving. Yes, a friendof mine from IUB had planned to join me for Thanksgiving but I decided to be alone, fast and pray so that God may help me and my family. I have been feeling really depressed and stressed for the recent months and I needed to really connect to God and ask Him to intervene. So, I decided unilaterally to ask my friend to not come over. She is mad at me for my decision. I understood her reaction full of anger but I needed to spend sometime alone. Also, I am not really fun to hang out with recently because of what I am going through So, I don’t want to have a friend over to my place and feel depressed and be cold towards that person.
Anyway, I planned to do nothing on Thanksgiving 2004 except praying and fasting. I started fasting and praying the Sunday preceding Thanksgiving . I am stopping this Sunday, Nov. 28th. I really didn’t plan to go out, especially with my car being down right now. However, my friend Jill from Browncroft Community Church emailed me to ask me to join her family on Thanksgiving day. Before Jill, Julie, another friend from BCC invited me to join her and her family in Indianapolis, IN during Thanksgiving but I declined the offer because I was planning to be in DC for a demonstration on December 1, 2004 in front of the Chadian Embassy. Then, Jill, came and offer to take me to her family’s place around here in the Rochester area on Thanksgiving. Those awesome girls didn’t want me to lock my self up in my room on Thanksgiving basically. I finally accepted to join Jill and her family.
