Saturday in the office
February 4, 2006 at 10:20 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI ordered some new DELL computers for our organozation a few days ago. They got here this week. Even though Saturday and Sunday are my days off, I have decided to go back to my office this Saturday to set up the new systems, hook them up to our network and configure them so that I put them into production starting next Monday.
My alarm clok started screaming at 8am so I jumped out of my bed, took a quick shower and grab my bag and my laptop. I was gone! After about 25mn ride on the red line, I got to our office on 18th street downtown DC. Nobody was around. Of course, it’s the weekend so naturally people stay home. My colleague Jennifer told me on Friday that she would come to do some work. Two hours after I started working, she showed up. she stayed 2 hours and left. I was there until 7:45pm before I caught the metro to come back home.
The day was productive though and I listened to a lot of Christian music. I have just discover a great website listening online radios all around the world. One can listen to all sorts of music. I enjoyed it at workd and I am still enjoying it right now, while typing these entries.
I was able to configure two of the new XPS 200 DELL computers and I also configured the two Dell Inspiron 9300 laptops. Those four computers are ready to be used. I have a bunch of other computer to take care of though.
I will need to use another of my weekend to finish the work.
After I was done working, I wanted to go watched the new movie KAM suggested me this morning when we chatted over the phone. It’s titled ” Something new” and it’s a new movie that came out this Friday, feb 3, 2006. I planned on going but decided to make it another day because I was feeling really tired and I was sure I would be spending my time sleeping during the movie. It wasn’t work going so, I went home.

As everybody already knows, SPAM has become one of the biggest headache for electronic mail. I don’t know about you but everyday, my mailbox is full of “Cialis”, “Viagra”, “Organ Enhancement”,…emails. It’s just insane. no matter how strong is your filter, those loony spammers will get you. They spam not email addresses but entire domain name. I have tried so many other tricks to reduce the amount of junk I receive everybody but most of them didn’t convince me. A few days ago, I have started using SPAMfighter, a free tool that removes almost all spam from my email account. It’s working pretty good so far. I think I like it and I am also pilot testing it on Emily’s mailbox. It seems to be working like a charm for now.
It’s very easy to install and use SPAMfighter, and it works with Outlook and Outlook Express.
One of the nice features is that you can report a spam mail with one click, and have the good feeling of removing it from all other SPAMfighter users. The more people who use SPAMfighter, the less spam everybody gets. By now, more than 95 % is filtered.
Well, I think I will go with SPAMfighter. Some more testings and if I am convinced, I will recommend it on our entire systems.
If you want to try it for free, get free SPAMfighter here:
